We have released a fix for self-hosted HCP Terraform agents failing to start when auto-upgrading from 1.28.6+. Automatic updates will now upgrade to 1.28.10.

We have identified the issue and are working on a fix for self-hosted HCP Terraform agents failing to start when auto-upgrading from 1.28.6+ to 1.28.9, causing run failures in HCP Terraform workspaces.

Investigating
We are continuing to investigate reports of issues in starting up self hosted HCP Terraform agents which cause run failures in HCP Terraform workspaces. This issue only affects HCP Terraform Self-hosted agents when upgrading from 1.28.6+ to 1.28.9. Our team is working to identify and resolve the issue.
